Gold Prices Rise by ₹200 per Sovereign in Chennai

CHENNAI, June 21, 2025 – Gold prices in Chennai edged up on Saturday, with rates increasing by ₹200 per sovereign. A gram of gold now costs ₹9,235, bringing the price of a sovereign (8 grams) to ₹73,880.

This follows a dip on Friday, June 20, when gold was priced at ₹73,680 per sovereign—a decrease of ₹440 from the day before.

Gold prices have seen significant fluctuations over the past few months. On February 5, gold was selling at ₹63,240 per sovereign. It rose to ₹64,000 soon after, before slipping to ₹63,520 on February 12.

Another major jump occurred on March 14, when prices surged by ₹1,440 in a single day to reach ₹66,400 per sovereign.

The highest point so far this year was recorded on April 22, when gold hit an all-time high of ₹74,320 per sovereign. This marked a sharp increase of ₹2,200 compared to the previous day.
