China Claims Gold and Silver in Mixed Team Events at ISSF World Cup Munich

China concluded the ISSF World Cup in Munich on a high note Friday, securing gold and silver in the mixed team events to finish atop the medal table.

In the 10m air pistol mixed team final, Yao Qianxun and Hu Kai delivered a commanding performance to win gold, defeating Armenia’s Elmira Karapetyan and Benik Khlghatyan with a decisive 16-4 scoreline. The Chinese pair surged to an early 8-0 lead and never relinquished control, wrapping up the match in dominant fashion.

The victory marked Hu’s fourth career World Cup gold and capped off a remarkable week in which he also won his third consecutive individual title in the event. Yao added to her strong showing in Munich, having claimed bronze in the women’s individual pistol competition earlier in the week.

In the 10m air rifle mixed team event, China’s Wang Zifei and Sheng Lihao secured silver after a record-breaking start in qualification. The duo posted a new world record score of 635.9, narrowly surpassing the previous mark by 0.1 points. However, in the final, they were outpaced by India’s Arya Borse and Arjun Babuta, who staged a strong comeback to win 17-7. Norway’s Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Jon-Hermann Hegg took the bronze.

Wang, 18, was a standout performer throughout the tournament. She won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle event earlier in the week, setting new junior and overall qualification world records and extending her unbeaten streak on the World Cup circuit this season. Sheng also added to his medal haul, having earned bronze in the men’s individual rifle competition on Thursday.

Germany’s Doreen Vennekamp and Christian Reitz claimed bronze in the pistol mixed team event, defeating Serbia’s Olympic champions Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec 17-13.

China concluded the Munich leg with a leading tally of four golds, one silver, and two bronze medals. Norway and India followed with two golds each, placing second and third in the overall standings.

The next stage of the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup will take place in Ningbo, in China’s eastern Zhejiang Province, from September 7 to 15.
