Gold prices have seen a significant hike just ahead of Eid, with the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) announcing an increase of Tk 2,415 per bhori (11.664 grams) for 22-carat gold, bringing the price to Tk 1,72,336 per bhori as of today (Friday).
New Gold Prices in Bangladesh
As per the new rates:
22-carat gold is now priced at Tk 1,72,336 per bhori.
21-carat gold will cost Tk 1,64,497 per bhori.
18-carat gold is priced at Tk 1,40,994 per bhori.
Traditional method gold stands at Tk 1,16,640 per bhori.
Price Hike Details
This is the first price increase by Bajus in June, and it follows a previous increase on May 21, when the price of 22-carat gold rose by Tk 2,823 per bhori, setting the price at Tk 1,69,921.
Price Adjustments in 2025
So far this year, gold prices have been adjusted 37 times, including 25 price hikes and 12 reductions.
Market Context
The price surge is attributed to various market factors, including changes in the gold market and supply-demand dynamics, especially leading up to the Eid festivities, where demand for gold traditionally spikes.
