DHAKA – The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus) has announced a significant reduction in the price of gold. Effective from today, May 11, the cost of gold has been slashed by Tk1050 per bhori.
Under the new pricing structure, the price for a bhori of high – quality 22 – carat gold is set at Tk1,70,761. Just yesterday, on May 10, the same quality of gold was being sold at Tk1,71,811 per bhori. According to a notification from Bajus, the decrease is attributed to a drop in the price of pure gold, also known as “acid gold,” in the local market. The association determined the new rates after taking into account the overall market situation.
The new prices apply across different gold caratages. The best – quality 22 – carat gold now costs Tk170,761 per bhori (11.664 grams). For 21 – carat gold, the price per bhori is set at Tk163,004. 18 – carat gold will be sold at Tk139,711 per bhori, and traditional gold has a new price of Tk115,532 per bhori.
Notably, while the price of gold has taken a dip, the price of silver has remained steady, showing no signs of change in the current market conditions.
